Wow. I can’t even read past the first two sentences without shaking my head. “Poor Stefan who said he knew how Damon felt about Katherine but still went after her.” You might want to rewatch THIS Clip. Katherine arrives and Stefan greets her and you can see in his eyes, he’s amazed by her beauty and her appearance. Therefore he didn’t go after Katherine once she was with Damon. They both loved her and wanted her equally and probably at the same time. She played them. End of story.
I can agree with the fact that I feel sorry for Damon that Katherine pulled the “it will always be Stefan” line because that was hurtful and mean. But for Elena to say it while she was dating Stefan and ONLY Stefan, that’s not painful at all. That’s honest. We are talking about Season 1 here.
“Poor Stefan who can go all ripper and there are absolutely no consequences.” I mean, are you watching the same show or? Because if I remember correctly, he lost EVERYTHING. Ok, he might have earned it back at one point but he still went through a dark phase and struggle to get it back. But just because Elena thought he was deserving of his forgiveness doesn’t mean, he didn’t have to pay for the price. HE DID. Do you think it was fun for him to kill all these people while he was with Klaus? He had no choice. It was part of the deal to save his brothers life.
“Poor Stefan who doesn’t miss a beat to remind everyone and their mother that he is the good brother and Damon is the bad brother.” I think Stefan said it once or maybe twice? Once when he wanted to kill that girl while he was on a little blood high because he wanted to CONVINCE himself that he isn’t the person who kills human beings anymore. He’s STRUGGLING with this part of himself because he knows what blood does to him. So it’s more of; like I said - trying to convince himself that he’s the good brother because deep down, he thinks he’s a monster and not good at all. Let’s not forget that he told Elena: you are better than him, you are better than BOTH OF US! Meaning he thinks he’s just as bad as Damon.
“Of course it must be so hard having so many people support and love you for being the good brother no matter what you do. It must be so hard constantly being chosen over your brother. God Damon has it so easy. Poor Stefan.” Neither Damon NOR Stefan have it easy and if you’re blind to that, then you’re watching the wrong Show. Just because Stefan has earned himself love and trust doesn’t mean he has it easy in life. Damon could have earned love and trust from the start. Many people were willing to love him and ONLY him if he hadn’t been on a killing spree in Season 1 in which he made people doubt his intentions. I feel sorry for Damon, I really do because I want him to be loved but it’s 90% his fault that he isn’t because he has made it impossible for people to love him. Again talking about Season 1. The things he has done might have been forever ago and he might have “made up” for them by saving people’s lives and saving their asses all the time but still. Bad things stick with you. Stefan has been gaining trust all through two Seasons before he went all Ripper and of course the people that know him forgive him a little more easily because they got to know him as a different person and they want to give hima second chance but it doesn’t mean everything falls in his lap just because his name is Stefan Salvatore. He earned it.
It’s not always “Poor Stefan” and he’s not flawless, in fact he is one of the most flawed characters on the Show and it would be stupid to ignore the obvious, that yes, he has made mistakes and he still does and he doesn’t always say the right things and doesn’t always make the right decisions but who does? No one. Just because Stefan has earned trust and love, doesn’t mean we all have to feel sorry for Damon now. Like I said, he could have earned it a long time ago. EVERYONE has to pay for their actions, Stefan does too. Elena told him to go to hell and while she let him easily back in her life, let’s not forget that she forgave Damon too for the things he has done. So again, it’s equal. Don’t be blind to the obvious.
